Stream Assessment: Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about assessments, reports and counselling.
What is the GuidanceMitra Stream Assessment?
It is a scientifically designed psychometric assessment that evaluates your aptitude, interests, personality and subject affinity across multiple sections. Based on your responses, it recommends the academic streams (Science, Commerce, Humanities and their combinations) that best match your profile.
Who should take this assessment?
The assessment is designed primarily for students of Classes 9 and 10 who are about to choose their stream for senior secondary (Classes 11-12). Students of other classes can also take it to understand their strengths and interests early.
How long does the assessment take?
The assessment is divided into sections, each with its own set of questions. Most students complete all sections in 60-90 minutes. Your progress is auto-saved every 30 seconds, so you can safely resume if you get disconnected.
How do I start my assessment with a passkey?
If your school has organised an assessment event, you will receive an event passkey. After logging in, use the "Redeem Passkey" option on your dashboard, enter the passkey exactly as provided, and the assessment will be linked to your profile. If your passkey shows as invalid, please recheck the code with your school administrator.
Are there right or wrong answers?
The interest and personality sections have no right or wrong answers — answer honestly based on what you truly enjoy and how you actually behave. The aptitude sections measure reasoning ability, so attempt those carefully. Honest responses produce the most accurate recommendation.
What does my report include?
Your report includes your recommended primary and secondary streams with alignment percentages, a confidence band, detailed category-wise scores across areas like numerical aptitude, logical reasoning and interest profile, your key strengths, and discussion points for parents.
What does "Needs Counselling" or a low confidence score mean?
It means your responses did not point strongly towards a single stream — which is common and is not a bad result. We report it rather than hide it, because a confident-looking recommendation built on unclear evidence would be worse than an honest "not yet clear". Your report still shows how the streams ranked and where the evidence conflicted, so you can see exactly what is undecided. If you would like to work through it with a person, one-to-one counselling is available on request.
Can my parents see my report?
Yes. Your report page has a "Copy Share Link" option that generates a secure link you can send to your parents or guardians. They can view the parent report without needing an account.
Can I retake the assessment?
Assessments conducted through a school event can generally be taken once per event. If you feel your results do not reflect you — for example, if you were unwell or interrupted — contact your school administrator or write to us, and we will guide you on a re-assessment.
Is my data safe?
Your answers are secret and shared with no one; those will be used only for the assessment. Your reports are stored securely, transmitted over encrypted connections, and shared only with your school’s authorised administrators and anyone you personally share your report link with. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
What are the pricing options and plans for the assessment?
We offer two clear pricing plans: 1) Stream Assessment Report at ₹999 (one-time, per student) covering primary and secondary stream matches and ability results across 6 areas. 2) Stream Assessment + More Detailed Report at ₹1,999 (one-time, per student): everything in the first plan, plus all 18 parameters analysed with subject & exam roadmaps, a 6-month improvement plan, ranked career matches and a parent guide.
Why should I take this assessment if I already know which stream I want?
Even if you already have a stream in mind, the assessment scientifically evaluates 18 parameters across aptitude, interests, and working style to confirm if your aptitude matches your interest. Correcting a stream after Class 11 costs a full academic year — spending 60-90 minutes now validates your choice with real data and uncovers hidden skill gaps before forms are signed.
Do you offer one-to-one counselling?
Yes. A 45-minute one-to-one session goes through your report with you and turns it into a written plan — particularly useful when your interests and your aptitude point in different directions. It is booked separately from the assessment and priced separately from the reports; write to us or use the contact page and we will share the details.
My school wants to partner with GuidanceMitra. Whom do we contact?
